Paint on brick work

I have recently moved house. Our fireplace is brick which has been painted magnolia. Any idea how to remove the paint?

you could try a wire brush if the paint is very old, other than that, you could perhaps paint them brick coloured?

of course, if it were removable, you could shot blast it, but again, I'm not sure how good the finish would be?
