New to this forum! Can you help? I have an Alpha boiler installed some 31/2 years ago and it all works fine; however once the main burner has gone out within around 10-15 seconds all the pipework begins "clicking" it's not a banging as if the boiler is at fault, but once the burner cuts in again and the pump is circulating the noise stops; anyone help?

I dont want to see rude but if you had it installed 312 years ago i would sell it to a museum then you will have more than enough cash for a new one
Look again manxbiker. three and a half years.

On the list of questions all punctuation including / are not displayed. It can be quite confusing.

The noise is the pipes expanding as they heat and creaking on the joistsand mountings. No idea how to stop it though.
Without having all your boards up and packing the joints at the curves, mounts and joists it's difficult.

Try localising the banging, lift a couple of boards and see if you can wiggle (gently) the pipes you may be able to fin the route of the problem that way - but it's tricky.

Cheers guys; especially Manxbiker, you really didn't think I installed it 312 years ago did you?!!!!! Problem is the pipes even on a vertical plane with no joists etc are clicking. Guess I will try some of the cures you've suggested. Once again many thanks Ducati 916
i was advice to put fernox in my system that stop alot of my noise
it is in fact the pipes cooling and contracting 'cos when the boiler cuts in and heats the pipes the noise goes away.

can't help you with curing it but hopefully someone who re-reads this will see my post and have an answer for you.

by the way what sort of pipes did you use all those 312 years ago? if it was lead then you should replace it with some modern copper or plastic. ha ha. ( fazer owner )

Thanks Spike for the Fernox possibility, but that's already in the system (by the way it's a combi boiler)! And Markja, the pipes are already copper and at this moment in time the system's "clicking" like a "good un"!!
It maybe, even on the vertical that the pipes have been fitted too close together. Without ripping walls to bits and lifting the floor boards - I'm afraid your stuck.

Thanks for all your ideas and answer guys, at this moment in time I'll just have to live with it!
