Painting oak unfinished oak cabinets

We are building an against the wall bar in our basement and just bought unfinished oak cabinets from Home Depot which I decided instead of staining them I wanted to paint them black-now they look horrible-they're now rough to the touch and in certain light you can see the wood grain after two coats-HELP!!! what do I do? Any suggestions?

Did you use a primer???
all i can suggest now is to lightly sand them,try P120,then give them another coat.this should get rid of the roughness.You may have to repeat this a couple more times so you dont see the grain.
If you want the easy way out wear a pair of boxing gloves and a blindfold !!!
