Mirtazapene and depression
3 Answers
My sister has been diagnosed with depression and 3 weeks ago her GP put her on the Maximum dose of Mirtazapene and signed her off sick from work. She was told she would probably start to feel a bit better in herself within 2 or 3 weeks, but to be honest she's worse now than she was 3 weeks ago. The drugs make her tired all the time, she has the most awful vivid nightmares, she has gained weight because of the drugs and she has such a short fuse she screams at people for no reason, everyone makes her angry and she cries buckets of tears over things that she herself admits are trivial. I think we were all hoping she would be a bit better by now, even though these things can take time, its upsetting to see her like this, do you think it's possible the Mirtazapene just isn't working on her? she's not due back at her Dr's till the end of the week, do you think she should go back sooner? she's working herself up into such a state because she wants to be happy again, but can't.
