I stripped the top of a coffee table with strippers, sanded it and varnished it with deep mahogany gloss varnish,up to now I have given it four coats and fine sanded in between coats it look beautiful now,but I think one more coat should finish it nicely, but what I want to know is what do I use to seal the varnish to give it a perfect finish, please dont say polyuraphine clear varnish spray, because I have used that before and its not very good, any advice please?
As rat says why seal it and if you do give it another coat use fine wire wool not sand paper.
But id leave it alone as as you have it said it looks beautiful you could spoil all your hard work.
thanks for the answers but I have revarnished before on other things I started on a small coffe table but if a cup or anything was left on it , it left a mark any suggestions?. and dont say dont put a cup on it, its usually someone else that does that even though I have little mats they seem to miss them
hi smiffy!
ok then you have done enough then.and i would use an polyuraphine myself as it is a type of plastic and is difficult to adhere especially on varnish ,
hubby is expert on this product do not waist your money.
I myself have sanded down the entire house and chestdraws and door and rather use a natural bee wax and polish but it is a job that requires doing reguraly but i like it.
