tap/water pressure question
4 Answers
We had a central mixer tap in the bathroom which was quite old & the hot water pressure used to be good but then it got slower & slower until nothing came out at all. We had a couple of plumbers round with the view of replacing the tap & both said because as the tap was quite old 'something had probably broken inside it' causing the flow to be affected. We hired one of these guys to fit a new one & although the water runs from the hot now, its very slow. The pressure from the bath in the same room is good/quite powerful. We have checked the the flexi hoses are not kinked but they seem ok. Our plumber has now gone on holiday for two weeks so we cannot contact him till beg of July but if anyone has any idea what could be causing this problem I would be so very grateful for any replies. thank you in anticipation

Quite often the inner rubber hose perishes causing a blockage, not something that can usually be seen by visual inspection from the outside. This will restrict the water from the shower head without affecting the bath tap.

thanks for your answer but no, theres no shower connection on the mixer tap. The new tap came complete with new flexi connectors & that is what the plumber fitted along with the new tap. Its more annoying than anything really & although we really don't know anything about plumbing, hence the reason we got someone qualified to fit the new tap but are just curious to know why its happening. thanks
