how can i get it off without damage??

excellent: used metal spatula at a gentle angle, then kitchen roll with Homebase brush cleaning fluid, then gentle rub with metal panscrub, finishing off with tissue and brushcleaner again. good as new. wouldn't recommend doing it too often, mind.
