washing machine door won't open for two days

i have a hotpoint electronic plus wahing machine and the door will not open for two days after the cycle has finshed anybody know what could be causing this?

We have a hotpoint and it did something similar. Door lock would not come off. Phoned up and was advised to simply switch off the power and remove plug from socket and leave for a while (I think he said 30 minutes but I left it a few hours) Plugged back in and have had no repeat of problem since.

I think the powering down resets the PCB (control board)

I think a call to hotpoint customer services might be the best way forward.

Only other thing I can think of is that the door would possibly stay locked if the water was not fully pumped out from the machine, either due to partially blocked drain hose or gunged up or faulty pump.

Tried putting it though another (short) cycle, like rinse & spin?

some washing machines have a cord fixed behind the filter flap door that will open the door if pulled. Is the machine full of water, if so disconect the waste pipe and drain the water into a bucket, this may let the door open if switched back on.

Last resort use a thin flat bladed screwdriver, a blunt ended one of possible to get round the seal by the lock, you may be able to release the door

SWITCH POWER OFF remove top of machine yopu will find a round pressure switch with rubber tube attached that runs to the bottom of drum , pull off & blow down it, then replace and try again(sometimes this tube gets blocked and makes machine think there is still water inside)

We had a a problem with the Hoover ZD. We took the top off and I pushed the connections where the door was (with the power off of course) and the door opened after a few attempts. Although the problem did recurr. The engineer came the next day with a replacement switch and all seems to be ok now.
