xmas lights

last year i bought some sets of rope lights to put up all over the front of the house, they came with some great little clear screw-in plastic u shaped clips so i could attach the rope lights easily to walls and around wooden frames.
however, the sunlight over the last 12 months has made the clips go brittle and they snapped off when i tried to push the rope lights into them yesterday.
i have scoured the diy shops today and cannot find any such clips for sale even though all the shops sell the lights.
does anyone know where i can buy clips or something that i can use to attach the rope lights to brick or wood?
