Advice please-Gutting a kitchen.
HI,
I am gutting my kitchen and replacing it with a new one. The only new appliance will be a Dishwasher, we have all the rest.
In what order do I put things back in. Only him indoors and I are arguing about this.
I.e Do we put the floor down first, or leave that till last?
Do I put the cabinets in after or before the new ceiling is done? (I think I know this one but any advice would be appreciated). And any other advice will be fantastic.
Thanks in advance.

Well in the building trade we would normally do the messy things first, so in your kitchen it would be,
New Ceiling, then if the floor is being tiled,or non slip do the floor, then the units last of all, if you doing a laminate floor put the units in, leave the kick boards off lay the floor so it can go under the units slightly, trim the kickboards down and fit them. if it is laminate you can lay that befiore you put units in, but make sure you put dust sheets down to protect it. good luck, Ray

Thank you Ray.
I have since had numerous answers through asking people where I work and it seems that people do it all different ways.
My partner would agree with you so I think I will stop arguing now and let him get on with it.
On the other hand I could ask you to do it!!!!!
Thank you for your reply.

I agree with raysparx there, Iv'e just done mine, not in that order, but reallise now that i should have, the only bad task i had was cutting the work surfaces, which the wife had paid a fortune for, ( never to this day have I known the exact cost of them ) but I did buy a powerful circuar saw with fine blade and lazer guide, and I got away with that quite nicely,
Good luck with your project.
Good luck with your project.
I'm a kitchen fitter and I agree with Ray. on the first day we strip everything out and clear away the rubbish, 2nd job would be to get the ceiling sorted and any alterations neaded to the plumbing and electrics in preperation for the fit. next tile the floor, its always best wall to wall with tiles unless your economising. If you are having laminate, its best done later as Ray pointed out. Now that your first fix is out of the way you can concentrate on the units 1st- assemble & fit base & wall carcasses, 2nd- fit base units then wall units including extractor, 3rd -fit worktops, sink & hob, 4th- fit cornices, pelmets and plynths, fit oven if intergrated, 5th- fit doors & handles, 6th- tile & grout walls and finally fit all free standing appliances. Thats the order we do it anyway.
