I had 1.9 TDCi from new in 2004 .. loved it ...comfy, decent boot, relatively ok cost wise to service ... was getting 500 miles form a tank of diesel driving nottingham to lincoln every day .. rural, a roads and city driving, no problems at all in the 1st year from new apart from the fact it seemed to wear tyres faster than even kwik fit expected ...

got a 1.7 TDCi estate. New early 2005. Never a problem, stacks of poke- great on twisty bits. Pretty economical. Does all I want.
Take it from me - the car has your name on it !!!
My son has a 1.8 tdci edge, 54plate, he says its spot on for economy and reliability given he commutes 80miles a day on motorways. Good Luck
Have had two as company cars both diesel estates a 99 T plate and now driving an 05 plate. 1st one had done 158000 miles when it was changed with not many problems and current one has done 68000 miles with only a few niggly faults both good to drive and good mpg would agree they do seem to get through front tyres quickly.
Bought a 1.8 tcdi. Great car, tows my caravan a dream. Handles great. The Ford Focus Owners group is really helpful too: lots of knowledge there. Only trouble is, the car was valeted before we took delivery, and it still stinks of air freshener!
My wife's got a 1.6 zetec auto. Good reliable car. Solid, responsive drive.
i have a t reg 1800 petrol, get around 35/33 mpg spent 40 on repaires in 2 years great car good handeling

hope this helps
super car I have a 1.8 diesel on 54 plate with 60,000 up still gives me 48 to gallon round town go for it. FT
ive got a focus c-max 2.0tdci ghia. averaging 45-48mpg even at 4 years old.

Not sure if all the same but battery just cost me 120! Ive had to have a lot of warranty work carried out and recall work.
