Grout on Kitchen Tiles
4 Answers
I have recently revamped my kitchen and tiled the kitchen myself. I asked my friend to grout a small part of the kitchen one weekend as an exchange of favors but she didn't wipe the grout off the tiles and it dried. Now it is a complete pain and i spent half an hour with a lot of effort to clean about 10 tiles. Does anyone have any ideas what i can use to make my job a little bit easier???

Having said that, try mixing a 50/50 solution of fairly warm water and common white vinegar. Using one of the abrasive backed sponges usually used for dishwashing, soak the areas to be cleaned with the mixture and let set for a few minutes. Using the abrasive sponge keep the area wet as you clean. This usually works quite well. There are commercial solutions can buy at your DIY store, but since I'm in the U.S., the brand names may be different... Best of luck!
There is an acid wash that builders use to clean facebricks that have cement/mortar dried out on them. It's readily available from any builders merchant. If your tiles are ceramic it should do the job without leaving a stain. Try on a small area first! Be very careful as it is corrosive and must be thoroughly washed away after use. Hope this is of use.
