Does anyone have any experience of having solid wall insulation fitted? We are looking at insulating a Georgian house of brick construction. Are there any posssible detrimental effects over time due to reducing breathability of the building as the house has suffered in the past from a bitumised covering on the roof which we have the joy and expense of removing.
We have a Georgian house c1790, and have always followed advice given by others with properties of similar age and build. Basically old houses must be allowed to breath - if you use modern plasters instead of lime plaster for example, you will often have problems later.
Try this site - it is devoted to period properties and their upkeep and maintenance.
