I have just bought some oak covers and wondered if I should (a) cut them to fit around the skirting boards using a jigsaw to follow the ogee contours, or (b) to cut the skirting boards with a flat saw, so that the covers fit between the boards. Anyone with suggestions?

Shape the cover rather than cut the skirting boards. Our cut out shapes are not contoured to skirting boards just a smooth arc to fit over skirting
