Our Central Heating is working intermittently. Hot Water is fine and the central heating pump was replaced not so long ago. The heating comes on from time to time but does not respond to a demand for heating from the thermostat. Is it the thermostat or could it be something else?

if its a faulty motorized valve (2 or 3 port) then an easy way to check is to move the little plastic switch into the manual position, if this is very stiff then the motor (not the valve) needs replacing which is a very easy thing to do and not very expensve (around 10 )
