Cooker Hood problem
I have a Tamaya Elicia 1000m Cooker Hood/extractor fan.
It has never worked since installation and the kitchen fitter "did a runner" before I could sort it out. Although the fan is rotating, VERY little air is being extracted. I have even put a match under it and nothing happens. Even when the ducting is disconnected there is nothing happening.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to get this to work. It is supposed to be connected to an outside duct.
Cheers.

This 4 inch pipes goes along the rafters in the attached garage and out to a cowled topped pipe. I can get some suction at the end of the 6 inch piping but nothing is "sucking" at the cooker head end. Does this make any sense?

hi Knobby, fan is definitely working because I can see the blades stopping when I turn it off (obviously can't see them going round as too fast!)
Re the match I meant the smoke didn't go upwards, so no extraction taking place.
Matt, there's no lever that I can see.
Ray, the motor is inside the cooker hood (round black object with grills either side, where you can see the baldes etc.)
Even when ducting is disconnected I can't feel any suction at all.
thanks everyone for you help

Hi Knobby,
I have found a webiste (www.elica.co.uk/downloads.asp) showing the drawings etc. I saw a funny shaped part that I knew was in my garage. Apparently it is the part that you add two charcoal filters to each side and miss out the ducting altogether. I am going to go and see if I can get this part to fit on. If it does I shall go and buy some filters!

Well, the "filter holder" is on and it does have some suction now, nothing great but I put a pan of boiling water under it and some of the steam is going up. However, I'm amazed that when you put your hand under the mesh you can't feel any suction, in fact it almost feels like it's blowing air out - towards the hob. Anyway, I shall track down some filters and block up the ducting hole in the wall.
I would just like to thank you all for taking the time out to help useless people like me on your Sunday.
Cheers!

Hi Matt,
Sorry, for the delay in answering, was just eating my lunch.
That 13f is just the thing I have put in (it was lying about in my garage). I am going to go the recycling route and buy some charcoal filters. This model is supposed to be either ducted out or recycling. I can't get it to work ducting out, which is what I would prefer.
Ray - I'm in West Sussex - anywhere near you?
