If you did not bleed it after turning on the valves, one at each end, then that is probably the problem. You need to open the bleed screw,at one end of the radiator at the top,and bleed off the air from inside the radiator.

MERRY XMAS.
when the heating is on is the rad warm at the bottom and colder at the top, this is due to trapped air that you need to release
also have you adjusted the lockshield on the return pipe that may be restricting the water path stopping the hot water circulating in the rad to heat it properly
And if that doesn't work, the water flow to the new rad needs balancing in relation to the existing rads).
Question Author
the rad is the same heat all over.how do you balance it???
Question Author
have tried shutting down all the other radiators in the house at both valves to stop the other rads taking all the water but still have the same problem, feed pipe to the new radiator is hot but no heat from feed pipe valve onward, what do i do ?????
maybe the trv is sticking and not opening to allow water to flow through the rad, is it a used trv?
if so take off the head and remove the centre pin and clean it so the pin is smooth, and does not have a build up of crap on it
then try again
Question Author
not using TRV's on this rad just straight valves.i have also drained the radiator and checked the valves and they work fine but still can't get any heat through the rad
was it flushed when the rad was fitted? could be a build up of crap,
Question Author
brand new radiator so no crap in there and the water is all flowing freely into the radiator
