toilet replacement
old toilet is out, new toilet going in tomorrow, waste goes through the concrete floor, all ok so far except I can't think of a way to securely attach the toilet pan to the concrete floor, the securing holes either side of the pan are horizontal so if I put fixing screws in either side there is nothing to screw them in to, wood blocks screwed to the floor first is all I can think of but it looks a bit tricky to me, what would a plumber do?

Also, what I often do - with or without fixings - is to place the pan on a bed of silicone sealant...............go away and leave it overnight and you have a good (and slightly flexible) fixing. :o)
ps..........dry the concrete thoroughly first though (blowlamp or hair dryer)...as silicone doesn't like sticking to damp.

Hi tfg, you need to drill into the concrete floor using a masonary bit. The best way I have found to do this is to put the toilet in place first, then mark the floor through the fixing holes. Then I would remove the toilet to avoid breaking it when drilling holes. After you have drilled the holes put rawl plugs into them, then put toilet back into place and using screws which do not rust screw it into place. If you run a little silicon sealer around the base of toilet before putting it back into place it will help it sit better on concrete floor.
hi I guess you have done the job by now but you didn't need to screw or mount onto wood that will rot make sure all area is dry then just put it into final place with soil connections then get x3 very thin wooden wedges and very carefully insert 2 under the rear of the pan and 1 at the front just to raise about 2or 3 mm then with a cartridge of evo stick waterproof bond and seal nozzle some into the 2/3mm gap all the way round then remove the wedges for the pan to squeeze onto seal and leave to set trim off surplus next day if needed hth Tez
Probably done by now but "Fisher WC Fixings" are the professional way to do this, they are hard rigid plastic "L" shaped brackets that are fixed the floor, WC is placed on floor and approx position of holes marked on floor , brackets are then located and fixed via Rawlplugs and screws inside WC template perimeter as per instructions with brackets, WC is then sited over top of brackets which are on the inside of WC so as to line up with holes on the WC, Bowl is then fixed to bracket through side holes.
