I have 2 of these and plumber has installed them opposite ways round, I have to think "which loo am I in, is it the big button or the small button for the short flush?". I am going to ask him to make them both the same, but does it actually matter which way round they go? The instructions are very specific, but don't say why so I wonder if it's just convention. I know my plumber will tell me it doesn't matter, but I'd like a second opinion.

It doesn't matter - they are just buttons that operate the flush. The convention is merely a convention - small button, small flush.
hi Mrs I put the large button to the top bigger flush more water but as bm said only a choice the cistern doesn't differentiate between the two it still fills to water levels set on installation hth Tez
