Hi all, My husband and I are getting our bathroom refitted and tiled etc in February and we are doing it ourselves. We want to keep costs low. Does anyone know/recommend cheap places to buy tiles (wall and floor), bathroom storage cupboards and a decent electric shower that are still of good quality? Thanks xxx

Some of the cheapeat tiles are available in the big DIY stores where they often have bargain offers on 'end of range', etc.
Hi Coppertop, as heathfield says the big DIY chains are often the cheapest, but if you do buy end of range tiles from them do make sure to get enough as you may not be able to get extra ones to finish job afterwards. As they say once it's gone it's gone LOL. Another place you can often get them cheap are from the manufacturers themselves. Just Google tile manufacturers for your area and see if there's anything close to where you live.
Apart from Johnson and Pilkington (if they still do them), both of whom are UK manufacturers, most volume-produced tiles in the UK come from either Spain or Italy.
The unit price of the tile is very small compared to the selling price - which is why there is huge opportunity for the big DIY-sheds to sell specials or end-of-lines at discounted prices. It's just a question of shopping around to find something you like at a price you are willing to pay.
