Downlights

I am trying to dream up some way of enclosing the main body of the downlights in the loft so they dont get covered by insulation. Some kind of tube cut up about 150mm diameter, any one got any ideas?

Why not buy a ready made item which would protect you from the risk of fire.

You should use the fire hoods anyway, even if installing in a downstairs room. Ray

I'm actually in the process of replacing my downlighters in the kitchen and bathroom and selected these hoods to keep the fire barrier intact,

they are fairly soft and won't take the weight of a thick insulation so I've had them reinforced at work for no cost (work in the insulation business) but you can purchase from the same company these:-
