Can you mix any type of acrylic paints with any other acrylic paints? If so, why are some called names like "System 3" when others are just acrylic paint?
In watercolours where you have student colours and artist colours. Is there a similar distinction in acrylic paints and if so, what are the equivalent terms used?
Thank you

Artistic and student grade acrylic paints use the same binder or acrylic emulsion to suspend the pigment. What differs between these grades of paint is the pigment load and use of fillers i.e. better quality. If you mix the two grades together you will deteriorate the quality slightly but nothing dramatic will happen to your painting I'm sure. If you want to use them for an outdoor mural or something then invest in artist quality acrylics.
I think System 3 is simply a brand of acrylic. It's pretty durable (and cheap if bought in a set) and could be mixed with economy acrylics.
