Hi,
We moved into a 'new build' house and had a lovely shiny black tarmac communal driveway at the front of our houses.
Our neighbour then decided to turn their back garden into a giant patio and has mixed concrete up for their patio on our lovely black tarmac at the front of the house. Even though they have used the mixed up cement there is a horrible gry residue stain on the tarmac. Does anyone know how to remove this ?
Thanks

did they put polythene sheeting under the concrete to protect the tarmac?
they should remove the marks, possibly with a chemical and jet wash or have the patch of tarmac relaid.
this is an easy solution to offer here, but difficult to put into practise.
also this situation could quite easily create ill feeling that will remain, on one or both sides
why dont you have a chat first and ask if they noticed the marks, and do they intend to do anything about it.problem is if they were reasonable people they would have protected the tarmac first or put it right w/o being asked or prompted. not an easy one for you
Hi Chase ....... I'm glad it's not just builders who do this :o)
Try this first.............
http://www.screwfix.com/prods/12627/Cleaning/Chemicals-and-Detergents/Path-Patio-Cleaner-5Ltr

Any staining that remains could be masked with thinned down coat of this.

Thinned, because it'll be too glossy othwise. You'll have to experiment. Good luck
....that 2nd link was off ............... try this

I give up on this clunky site............... that didn't work either............. go to www.screwfix.com
and search for Patio Cleaner, and Bitumen Paint :o)

Thanks very much to you both, sorry for delay in replying, for some reason AB didnt email me to tell me i had new answers like it normally does so only just seen your replies. Will have a look at Screwfit tonight :)
In answer to terence7556, they did put the cement on some board but i thik some bits went off the edge, got trod in etc etc. They are nice people but they recently had new babies, and have lots of animals and just dont think they have noticed, or have the time. (they also have a driveway covered in weeds which i am trying to tackle -subtly!) I thought if i could just get on and sort it, then keeps everyone happy!
