Cold radiatior

Since refurbishing my upstairs bathroom 2 years ago the new ladder rad keeps running cold.
It is full of water and does not need bleeding.
I can feel hot at the inlet valve but no further.
When I take it off and replace it hot flows through and it bleeds. It is then ok for a few weeks then it is cold again.

All other rads in the huse are fine

What is wrong here please?

Not balanced correctly? Have you tried opening the lockshield valve - the one on the other end of the rad to the adjustment valve? Who set it up? - has it ever worked since being tinkered with?

I have balanced the whole system. The lockshield valve on that rad is fully open.

Have you got a thermostatic valve fitted.....sometimes they stick in the closed position.....if so give it a sharp TAP with a SMALL hammer....or replace it...good luck

No valve. Just a very basic system.

Very odd.
Tried closing down every other rad using their respective adjustable valves, then seeing whether water gets into that one?

not done that but it fills easily after draining and it bleeds and then it is ok for a couple of weeks.

Having spoken to a plumber I now have the answer.
It appears my bathroom rad is on the hot water circuit not heating. My new rad is as tall or taller than the tank outlet.
As it is gravity fed it aint working.
I need ti install a shorter rad and all will be ok.

I got round to it at last! Smaller rad in and all working as it should!
