I have a large outdoor glazed pot and I would like to repaint it. What is the best way to do this and what type of paint should I use?

Here in the U.S., a product called Pebeo Porcelaine 150 will do the job very nicely. It is fairly easy to apply once the pot has been cleaned according to instructions. It does require that you bake it in the oven for about 30 minutes at 300 degrees F, but the result will be dishwasher and weather safe.

It's available here at a chain arts and craft store called Michael's... don't know it they are international or not, but any good art supply store should have it or a similar product...

Many thanks Clanad but anything that has to be baked is not possible as my oven is not big enough. I was hoping something like an aerosol car paint would do the trick if I roughed up the surface so that the paint would adhere.
Tried the car paint thing even with sanding, primer, 3 coats, and sealant it flaked off over about 12 months. Ordinary gloss paint under a couple of coats of exterior polyurethane varnish lasted about 2 years before it looked too shabby.

Thanks for that rowanwitch will try that but perhaps use boat varnish which may ve hardier.
Go into a hardware shop, they will tell you the best paint. Not a B&Q, but an independent shop will know what they are talking about.
I have used Plasti-Kote, satin super spray paint on plastic and ceramic planters and it has lasted very well for two years. You can buy it at Homebase and it comes in a variety of colours, but the colour dries lighter than the one shown. They have a very good web-site that shows you step by step projects.

Thanks for your answers smurfchops and moonshadow will look into both your suggestions.
So... Ok... to big for oven... Asked an arty neighbor about your plight. She said "No problem..." here's what you do. First buy a container of ordinary white carpenter's glue... Spread the glue on the container and let it dry thoroughly, then simply spray paint to desired color. She says it works every time even to the end of coloring glass objects...
