which side hot or cold faucet

I need a discussion settle here in our house.......which side do you put hot water handle turner for the faucet, left or right, Is it universal (all over the world)

Here in the northern hemisphere (uk) .... hot is on the left as a rule .... can't speak for the rest.

I understood the reason that the hot taps are normally on the left hand side was that the majority of people being right handed they would normally gauge the temperature with their right hand and control the flow with their left.

Well that is interesting. In our house (Alaska) they are half and half, we couldn't agree when we were putting in the faucets. That's compromising you see.
all my taps are cold - left, hot - right.

including mixers, so there was no choice there!
Hot left, Cold right
It depends what mood the plumbers in.
Type Your Answer Here...I only fitted a bridge mixer a few weeks ago .. and was thinking the same thing. I had to double-check all the other basins and sinks in the place.
kitchen = mixer
bath = hot on left
basin = hot on right
i was always led to beleive cold on right hot on left for the benefit of blind people.
Hot water?
Luxury!
just make sure that they are all the same in the one house. I think plumbers connect them the most convenient way.
