are there any decent cheap or free music sequencers out there? I've been looking at software like Reason 4/5 etc and although powerful they are also very expensive.

As I'm a beginner I'd like to go cheap to see how I get on with it. Looking to create dance style music, dubstep etc.

I use fruityloops and have had several dance music tracks signed to independent labels and released on CD and vinyl. It cost me $99 and you should be able to get a demo. It's called FL Studio nowadays.

thanks SQ. I've downloaded it and had a play. Looks very powerful for the money. May well buy it.
It is great. Here is a Christmas track I wrote using it.
