Jersey Royal Potatoes why are they sooo disappointing this year
11 Answers
I have bought them from most of the major supermarkets and they are just like ordinary new potatoes - no delicious taste and the skin doesnt rub off - are they real Jersey royals or is this a name that can be used to describe any small new spud

I have been eating Jersey Royals for over a month now with no depreciation in either flavour or texture from previous years. The skins do fall away when rubbed. I have purchased them from Booth's stores as usual.
Booth's are a regional grocers situated in the north-west of England in Lancashire, Yorkshire, Cheshire and the Lake District and have quality as their main aim.

The only ones I've tried this year that were anything like Jerseys were from Morrisons, the skin was curly and came off easily. However the real Jersey Royal potatoes or Jersey mids had a red earthy skin on them and they had a distinctive taste.. The ones I had didn't taste at all. I think we are being ripped off now that we are growing them here.
I bought some recently from a very famous supermarket andwhen I washed and scraped them most of them were green and I had to scrape a great deal of the flesh away before I could use what was left of them, are Jerseys prone to going toxic quickly or are they not the real deal? I tend to agree with woozer. It seems we are all being conned again as usual in this apathectic day and age.S.O.G
