Fence down.

Every year since I have lived here (4yrs) part of my neighbours fence has blown down.

He repairs it but the posts are not deep enough in the ground so each year it gets blown down again.

Just before Christmas it went again. He has since rented the property out. He got someone to look at it and nothing has been done since.Given that it was over the Christmas period, he could have been away.

A couple of weeks ago we got another severe wind and it took all of the fence down but one pane.

The people who rent the house can't get hold of the landlord so he may still be away.

Apart from it looking a mess, I can't let the dog out without her being on a lead.

Is there anything I can do about it? I don't think the tennants are liable for it.

There is actually no law which says there should be divisions between houses so legally there is nothing you can do about it. What I would do is put a wire fence on your side to keep your dog in. The cheapest posible. You will then have peace of mind.
Does he use a management agent, they may have more clout if you can contact them.
'sorry' divisions between gardens, i.e. fences, hedges walls.

2short and I obviously agree.
It seems that this fence is in a wind-exposed position (having fallen 4 yrs on the trot) . Conventional solid 6ft fence panels offer a huge target to the wind . Have you suggested trellis type fencing to your neighbour ? Backing this with hedging plants (conifers , pyrocantha ...) and keeping the hedge well trimmed to the height of the fence is a very effective and attractive barrier which will not blow down even in a very strong wind .

"But if your not prepared to do it properly, I respectfully suggest that you don't waste your time, don't waste my time, and stop wasting good materials. "

Well....that was blunt! LOL

No it isn't. The neighbour isn't obliged to put a fence up at all.

Maggie has the dog and she needs to erect a good fence to keep the dog in.
