Rhubarb

I planted a very healthy looking rhubarb plant a couple of months ago, and over the next two weeks, it proceeded to die leaf by leaf. Lo and behold, a new plant has sprung up about 500mm away from where the original one died. Any ideas fellow gardeners, Thanks in advance.

You've killed the bud the leaves came from so the new plant grew from another. Don't pick this year and a small amount next, feed well with compost over the winter (doesn't need to be well rotted or good quality)

Thanks Johnk, It is actually growing in a compost heap anyway, in the back end of my composter which is 8ft long x 4ft wide and 4ft deep made up of 6 full size sleepers, 3 each side, and 6 halves, 3 each end, so it should have a rich feed ok, Regards clasher
