Overwintering Seedlings

Hi,
I planted some seeds which I collected from some flowers in Cornwall last summer. They are Erigeron Glaucus and Sea Pink (Thrift). I don't have a greenhouse, they are just outside in the open. The seedlings are doing well but are still pretty small. I have pricked them out into individual pots. I need to know what to do with them over the winter. Will they be ok left outside or do they need shelter. I could rig up a cold frame or something, or put them in the shed. Can someone advise me please?

I would say a small makeshift coldframe is the best idea. If you put them in a shed, they will get leggy trying to head for the light.
Some grit or sand to stand the pots on would be good, deter slugs etc.

the two important things to avoid are waterlogging and letting the pots freeze. A cold frame should do nicely and as ferlew has said, protect from slugs

The types of plants you mention are hardy, and should survive a winter. However, as they are just seedlings they would benefit from some shelter for their first year. It wont harm them to stay outside, but they'll come through the winter stronger if you can give them just that little bit extra care.
