Standard Rose Flowers Dying
4 Answers
Hello. I have a David Austin Standard Rose - Golden Celebration. Unfortunately quite a lot of the flowers die off, and when I check the plant, I find that about an inch of the stalk leading to the bud is brown. Any ideas, please. It happened last year too. The rose is in a bed in the middle of a lawn and the bed is about 2 feet in diameter.

Is there no other evidence ? Mites/aphids/bugs ? Maybe the ground isn't so suitable. Have you tried a rose elsewhere in the garden where it may be 'happier' ? Perhaps better drainage, or fewer chemicals ?
Hello OG. I've got loads of roses in other parts of the garden, and some do better than others. No sign of aphids or any sort of pest. You have made me think though as some of the roses which are nearer to the standard don't do so well as others further away. I will think about moving it in the winter.
