Yesterday in the west of Scotland, between very heavy rain showers, I ventured out through the conservatory door to be met so closely by a bee, I actually said hello! She (?) instantly landed in a fold of my shirt on the nape of my neck as if snuggling there to shelter from the very heavy downpour which ensued just seconds after.....It actually brought some nostalgic paternal feelings to me.
Quite a magical moment......Been gardening since the Seventies and never experienced that before!
Ever happened to you?
No, Matheous, that must have been special.
My father used to care take bees and we were always taught to treat bees with respect and ..dare I admit this...talk to them. I am often found rambling away to bumbles when they venture close. I am very fond of them !
I've always admired their work capabilities and the fact that they just get on with it.....and that their efforts are extremely important to us humans.
Pollination is essentially done by the bees, and I think the human race would be in dire straits without them as it would take a huge workforce to replace our worker bees.
