I want to make some piccalilli spread, can I use the same recipe as chunky piccalilli and just mince the vegies smaller, if so at what stage do I do that? or is there a special recipe for spread? and where do I find one? also can I use squash instead of marrow or would it be to soft?

I would not know but all you have asked seems reasonable to me. Cooking can be about experimentation anyway, try cutting the stuff smaller and see what he result is like. Try other basic ingredients. You could then tell us how it went and become the Internet expert on squash spread :-)
I used to have Piccalli as a kid.
Haven't tasted it for years.
If you're successful please send me some :-)
ps: I'll pay postage.
I love pickles and chutneys but piccalilli was the one thing I didn't like. Only ever tasted it twice.
Don't tell me, the first time you were sick, and the second time your hat blew off ?
Yes!

Thanks, most helpful I'm sure, I will try experimenting and see what happens, its just that I hate to waste ingredients so was hoping someone had already done it.
I don`t know about piccalilli but I made some fig chutney a couple of christmases ago and I wanted it smooth. The recipe wasn`t for smooth chutney so I made it to the recipe and then whizzed it while still in the saucepan with a hand blender. It turned it perfectly smooth.
