rabbit ? has the whole flower gone ?
Question Author
definately not rabbit the stalk is there but it has been totally stripped
lily beetle can be a problem, but if the flowers have been stripped overnight it has to be some kind of wildlife munching...any deer ? some birds seem to devour any bright flora too..
Could be squirrels - the little devils eat lots of my flowers and dig up bulbs.
yup..squirrels are a nuisance..pie is the answer..lol...they are very likely to be the culprits

Have just discovered it is the red lily beetle that has ruined these plants does anyone know if the bulbs will be okay and flower next year. My son bought 2 of these pants from a garden centre for me for Mothers day and they were £9 each.
I have a lot of other lillies in pots which are fine at present and have been for at least 5 years, is there anything I can do to prevent further problems?

I had that problem last year and I found it was the snails. This year they are coming up really nice with no problem. I would say that they will be ok next year, but I would put them in a shed over the winter to keep warm away from frost and snow.
