Pot Plant For Living Room

It looks like I've managed to kill the lovely African Violet that I gave my Mum before she died. It didn't seem to like the summer heat. Has anyone got any suggestions as to what I can replace it with? I want something of the same size because I really like the pot that it was in so I don't want to be constantly re potting it. It must be able to cope with variations in temperature and something with flowers would be nice.

A small peace lilly? Think you can get a variety called 'petite'

For something different, what about a pitcher plant (Seracenia species) keep them wet at all times and let them get on with it and eat lots of bugs!!!!
