Cherry Trees

i have a cherry fruit tree in my front garden, every year I get a mss of blossom promising a bountiful harvest of cherries.In spite of putting nets over the whole of the tree the birds get at the fruit before it's even ripened I'm lucky to get a dozen cherries. Is there a spray I can put on the tree to
discourage the birds ?

Not sure about spraying it with anything if i wanted to eat the cherries myself.
I have a similar problem - the birds get them as soon as they start to ripen.
This year I plan to properly net particularly well-fruiting branches fully rather than try the whole tree (too big anyway).
The birds can have the rest.

have a laugh at this one - someone told me that birds can spot a snake and keep clear of the tree if they see one. They told me to put plastic snakes in the branches.
Guess whether that worked?

I would guess they are as about effective as scarecrows ie, a waste of time.

I tried CDs a couple of years ago and it didn't work.

Get better nets and fasten them together with clothes pegs. Put nets on as soon as the tiny cherries have formed. Any holes in the nets can also be closed with clothes pegs. My cherry trees are netted every year and do usually yield a worthwhile crop, but I have to check for holes in the nets every day.
