Tv Not Seeing Usb Memory Stick
6 Answers
A friend of mine was given a USB memory stick with a video of a friend's funeral on it. When I plugged the memory stick into their TV, which I think is an LG, the TV offered to format the stick but would not open to play the video.
I took the memory stick to try on my Sony TV, but my TV doesn't even recognise that the memory stick is even plugged in.
When I plugged the memory stick into my laptop the video was there and I was able to play it. I copied the video onto my laptop and tried to format the memory stick, both as FAT32 and also as exFAT, but neither times would the Sony TV recognise the memory stick.
By the way, the memory stick that isn't recognised is called DataOcean but I've got a SanDisk stick that does work okay in the TV. Both are 32GB
I think my next plan might be to go back to my friends TV and format the memory stick on that TV and see what happens.
But I'm still at a loss as to why my Sony TV doesn't even see the DataOcean memory stick but does see the Sandisk one....

Put on Sandisk in your PC, in file manager right click on the memory stick and click 'properties'. See what format it is. Do the same with the other memory stick.
My guess is that one is exFAT and the other is NTFS
