The Nazis thought the Slavs, the Russians, to be lesser humans and treated them accordingly.  When the tide of battle turned and the Russians got the upper hand they repaid their enemy with similar treatment.

 

Have you researched the 8th Army's trials in the desert, and their seaborne invasions of Sicily and Italy and the subsequent Italian campaign. Monte Cassino for example was extremely brutal, as were Nazi reprisals against the Italian Resistance after Mussolini's demise

P.S.  On reflection that is badly phrased, it wasn't meant as a criticism, just a point for discussion 😊
