My garden (7 years old) slopes slightly to the left and I want to level it out and put in some kind of drainage system as it gets very soggy. Do I have to rotovate the entire soil again or is it possible to strip just the top layer with the grass and put down more topsoil? Whats the best way to ensure good drainage? How can you work out how much topsoil you need?

A flexible perferated drainage pipe would seem to fit the bill.
Its hard to imagine your site, do you have something to retain the soil once its leveled ?
If you find you need extra top soil, i find the best thing to do is talk to a good supplier, tell him the area you need to cover and if he's worth his salt he will tell you in a flash, same go's for turf too Good Luck.
