it will be wrapped around a coil (like a yo yo). If you can get the casing off easily, try taking it off and re-threading it.

If not, your local garden centre should/may have a mower repair dept. If not check your yellow pages.

I did that to mine quite a lot! Us women are stronger than we think :) Happy mowing x

Oh dear! Been there and got the tee shirt (and an operation on my shoulder which was damaged through pulling that damned cord until I was blue in the face!)

If your mower is rather elderly, the rewinding mechanism often fails to recoil automatically and the problem is that even if you can remove the casing and rewind it, next time you yank it out again, the same thing happens. And meanwhile your grass gets longer and longer. If this has started happening it may be time to trade your model in for a newer one that has both a pull chord and a key operated starter mechansm. Alternatively stand out at the front of your house with your mower and appeal helplessly to any passing male. Alas, it didn't work for me!

Errr.. nik1971, If you can pull it so much, can I give you a call next time I need to start my generator?

And WendyS how short was your skirt that day?
