How to coax a calla lily to bloom
2 Answers
My husband was given a huge calla lily in a big pot following the tragic death of his nephew last year, so the plant has great sentimental value to him.
We've both got black thumbs, but have managed to keep the plant alive and relatively healthy. The leaves are large, glossy and deep green, but it doesn't flower anymore. After the original three flowers died, only the leaves are still here. We give it sun, but not too much; keep it moist, but not saturated; and pinch off dead leaves, but not too often. We haven't changed the soil or repotted it - it's in a great big pot, but it is a great big plant.
Is there anything we can do to coax it to flower again? TIA

Firstly I would like to pass on my sympathy on your traic loss.
The Calla lily usually flowers from early spring to early summer, so it could be that its just finnished flowering.
It will grow best in very moist fertile soil in full sun. in cooler areas of the UK, it may bennefit from the warmth of a south or west facing wall.
Hope this helps Tbird+
