Apple Airport Card

i just paid �35 for an airport extreme card as i was told it would enable me to access the internet via my wireless pc.

When i have gone to install the software on my mac, it automatically quits and wont let me install it.
Has anybody else had this problem and what can i do to rectify it ??

I have been wanting internet on my laptop for ages now, but there seems so many obstacles!
Is it an airport extreme card i actually need or am i barking up the wrong tree completely?

Which G4 model is it?
Some G4 Powerbooks take the original Airport card. The two cards are not interchangeable.
