Does any one know what might be eating my rhododendron, its munching away at the leaves leaving holes in them. Ive picked a few tiny green catapillar things off but theres obviously a few on there. What can I put on it to get rid of them? I,ve had the plant for 7 years, its part of me garden, would be a shame to loose it to critters. Ive looked on bbc website but cant find owt. thanks
Hi meatismurder,
Ther are various moth caterpillars that will feed on rhodo's, one likely suspect is winter moth.
Caterpillars rarely do extensive damage to rhodo's but it sounds like you have quite a lot of them, so it may be worth your while spraying them with a pesticide containing pirimiphos-methyl, fenitrothion or permethrin.
Good Luck Tbird+
