I have a Yukka which started off as an indoor pot plant years ago and was planted out in the garden some 15 years ago. It is in the corner of a small walled garden and has somewhat taken over. It has a woody base approx 15" in diameter and two green and healthy stalks approx 10 feet high. My question is, is there any way I can chop off the stalk and replant it ? I dont want the plant to die but I need to move the plant if possible. I have been told the roots are probably half way up our avenue by now.. Be very grateful for some advice.... and George will put his clothes back on
A healthy yukka should sprout again if you cut it back but it will put out two or three crowns from each cut. It will however be very slow growing so it should be a long time before you have the problem again.
