horse chestnut tree

my horse chestnut tree has big cracks in the bark running up it from the ground and they are multiplying, is there anything i can do or is it dying?

Hi dazbex, You really need to get a tree expret to make a full assessment of the tree, the wood can be quite brittle at the best of times.
Contact your local authority and ask to speak to the tree officer. Good Luck. Tbird+
