Lawn in a lifetime!!

I am an OAP who, for most of my life, has tried to cultivate a perfect lawn. Consequently, I would appreciate any better advice than the following:- American couple visiting a stately home in u.k. and admiring the main lawn. Wife says to husband, "Al the gardener's over there, ask him the secret." Gardener replies, "Roll it, mow it, feed it and hand weed it; then it should come-out looking like this.......after two hundred years." Ron.....( as green as grass.)

That was so funny. I splashed out once and bought those grass seeds that make your lawn "from dried gass to deep green in days" they worked,or so I thought ,until it rained and I noticed my feet and ankles were green too !! If we had the money we could lay astro-turf, can you imagine a beautiful green plastic lawn forever. Good luck with yours, let me know if you try the bleach. Take care God Bless

Hi Baby Jane........Pleased you had a laugh.

Bleach is an excellent suggestion. Intend filling an empty washing-up liquid bottle with thick bleach and using it as a spot weed killer , not only on the lawn but all over the garden. Should be useful between patio paving etc.

Don't think we'd go over the moon for Astro Turf and we are too dyed in the wool to use use greening-up seeds. However, we did have good chuckle when we imagined a young lass with green feet saying "Honestly, I only walked on the grass; nothing more than that, it's the truth."
