Getting their come-uppance
This might well seem distasteful to some of you or (as it did to me) someone getting their just desserts but Sunday just gone a well-known boy-racer in our village had his car written-off as he was driving up one of the narrow lanes between villages which is downhill for nearly the entire distance. He is one of those know-it-all-can't-be-told-anything types who never believes it will happen to him. Anyway, ever since he passed his driving test at the 4th attempt 3 years ago he has been driving these lanes like a lunatic. The lanes have a maximum speed of 60 mph for most of their 2 miles but anyone doing more than 30 is heading for trouble as there are 23 blind corners, more potholes than you can count as well as 4 blind entrances/exits to farms and houses. He drives at over 50 for most of the distance and never uses his horn. On Sunday he was halfway down the hill and drove into a tractor that was coming up. The tractor had a slight dent in its front but the boy-racer's car ( a brand new Toyota which he got as a birthday present 2 months ago ) was totally written off. Miraculously he didn't even have a scratch on him despite him not wearing a seat belt which he never does. Good job the air bags were working. His parents have banned him from driving.
