The best way to combat this is to go for damage limitation and try to reduce the yellowing patches that can die off completely if not attended to promptly.
Water the affected areas with plenty of water to dilute the amonia this will have a much better affect if you can do this staight away.
Patches that have already died, may as well be dug out and reseeded or returfed. Good Luck. Tbird+

don't laugh but there are some mineral rocks that you can put in the dg's waterbowl to change the ph of the we and stop the burning. Link here

Hi Phi
l spent a year at college studying sports turf and your problem was not mentioned, as sports turf is well managed and dogs generally do not get to pee on a sports area and if they do, its a "one off".
The way to combat dog pee scorch on a lawn is to manage the dog!!
By that I mean watch and therefore learn, when and where SHE is going to pee!! Dogs (MALE DOGS) dont pee on lawns unless they have nowhere else to pee!!
So Please have a bucket of water(or maybe a few) at the lawns edge and when the Bitch pees on the lawn then slowly pour the bucket of water on the place where she's peeeeed!!
It's as simple as that. The water neutralises the acid and't grass lives.
If you want a dog and you want a lawn and the dog's a bitch there is no alternative.
