Toxicity of Freesias

Are freesias poisonous. I have been asked to provide some as decoration on a wedding cake. They will be preserved by a coating of egg white and sugar.

i had fresias myself, on the top of my wedding cake many moons ago (although in a little vase on top, not sugared) . no mention was made of them being poisonous then, and i have never heard of them ever being described as such. they are used such a lot, as they smell so nice, that i would imagine they are not poisonous or it would generally be known that they are as they're so commonly used. if you see what i mean!

My friend just made me a birthday cake and as Freesia's are one of my fav flowers she made some out of icing for on the top! They looked like the real deal and everyone said about how great they looked.

She said she had only ever done the usual like roses etc and wanted a challenge and found them easier than she first thought they would be to make.

Failing that if you go to any cake shops they may have some already made on display.
My Mum told me about a shop in North Allerton where you can buy everything to do with cake making and have lots of iced flowers etc on display.
